Inconvenient Truth
It was such a huge accomplishment that Al Gore’s documentary film, “An Inconvenient Truth”, gained an Oscar trophy. These days, most scientists believe and argue that the balance of the earth is getting worse. Unfortunately, still many people don’t recognize that fact. Even though they already know about it, most people try to ignore the “inconvenient truth”. That’s why the Inconvenient Truth’s achievement of an Oscar Award is big. We should realize that it’s rather late, but not too late to save the Earth.
The most important thing is that it doesn’t take huge efforts; just using less electricity and fuel will be a big help. Sometimes people give up easily trying to save the environment, because it seems too big to save individually. However, the thing that people should be aware of is one’s effort is not just one’s effort. “Many a little makes a mickle”.

Toothbrush motor
This motor was in my brand-new Oral-B Pulsar toothbrush. It’s very small, but really strong.

I found good explanation of the principle of vibration motors

Reaction : Max Neuhaus and Site-Specific Sound
I thought that sound only had the concept of time. Of course, whenever I encountered some effects of sound, like the sound effects of horror movies, I merely understood that sounds had some powers, which could make an imaginary story, atmosphere, or a virtual space. But, mostly I concentrated on images, not on sound.
Because of my painting background, I usually focused on a composition of images and it’s space. Hence I simply thought images had space, and sound had time. But after I was faced with the multi media, my monotonous thinking was broken. Now I can understand that sound can have space, images can have time, and even a film can have both characters.
But, Max Neuhaus’s ideas were new to me. In particular, the idea of combining a space with sound was really new. The fact that sound can create and take specific space, not just a physical medium made me interested. After I went to the traffic island between 45th street and 46th street, I could feel the idea, not just understand it. The Times Square installation made unique space on the traffic island. That mysterious sound mixing with traffic noise made a really special space, I felt as if I were in different area, not in the middle of Broadway.
